South Africa 362 (Kallis 161, Amla 59, Sreesanth 5-114) and 341 (Kallis 109*, Boucher 55, Harbhajan 7-120) drew with India 364 (Tendulkar 146, Gambhir 93, Steyn 5-75) and 166 for 3 (Gambhir 64)
India draw the 3rd and final test match against South Africa to draw the series by 1-1. Series was full of thrill India losing first test and coming back in 2nd test by defeating South Africa. It was nice contest between world No. 1 and No. 2 team in the test cricket.
Man of the Match: Jacques Kallis: "It's certainly a great honour to do it in front of the Newlands crowd. In my opinion, its the best ground in the world. The team was in trouble in the second innings. Fortunately, Boucher and I had a partnership going. The lower order too contributed. I just tried to apply the pressure back on the bowler (reverse sweeps). fortunately it came off, on another day, you could have got a top edge and look an idiot! Given the situation of the game, the second-innings hundred is up there with the best. I am probably playing as best I have ever played. I have worked hard in the last 3-4 years and hopefully I can keep scoring for more years." Kallis is also the man of the series.
Dhoni: "It was an interesting series. We are quite used to coming from behind; we never do well in the first Test. The bowlers did the job. Here too they tried their best but we couldn't take the last few wickets. If you look at the Kookaburra ball, it becomes difficult with the old ball. Our bowlers are skill bowlers - not pace. Kallis proved difficult to get out. Overall, in the series, it was good to see the effort put in by the fast bowlers. Harbhajan did well through the series.
Smith: "It was a terrific series. It was very competitive. Every session was competitive. Last few series between us have been even. It shows that our teams are even. Jacques and Tendulkar are terrific players and showed on this wicket. Jacques is an inspiration to all of us. The positives - I don't want to pick anything out but it was nice to see Steyn... As a team we managed to compete well with the best team in the world. We would like to play India more. Every day is unpredictable and competitive. Thats what the fans to watch - some exciting cricket. I would like to thank the fans for all the support. It makes a difference to see people come out to watch us."
