The IPL has reached its business end and four teams have made it to the play-offs – Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders. Kings XI Punjab had an outside chance but their defeat to Deccan Chargers ended their 4 match winning streak and allowed Mumbai to reach the last 4 without much of trouble.3 out of the 4 teams that reached the play-offs have Indians as their captain and 4 out of 6 teams that did not made it to the final stage had foreign captains. Sir Don Bradman: I saw him playing on television and was struck by his technique, so I asked my wife to come look at him. Now I never saw myself play, but I feel that this player is playing much the same as I used to play, and she looked at him on Television and said yes, there is a similarity between the two...hi compactness, technique, stroke production... it all seemed to gel!

Mohali Test – an all time great – provided for the greatest endorsement for the real and longest version of the sport. It is battles like these that also provide for the biggest test of characters. The romance and suspense such contests produce make the followers of the game get enchanted. Since India and Australia belong to the top rung, the intensity of the Test also had that sparkle of a knife’s edge. What a match!

Terror threat looms over the 2011 Cricket World Cup. This is not just a case of paranoia but in reality as even the ICC (International Cricket Council) is up and ready with a contingency plan. The global sports body has already started preparation to move the World Cup to Australia and New Zealand in case any unfortunate terror incident threatens the tournament. This is no longer being said in hushed tones but has been confirmed by the New Zealand Cricket chief executive Justin Vaughan.
