altLondon: Fernando Torres and Pepe Reina feel they were lied to about Liverpool's ambition during contract negotiations and are prepared to invoke release clauses in January, according to The Mirror.

The Spain World Cup 2010 winners both inked new deals last season on the provision that the club would be able to compete with Manchester United and Chelsea. It is reported that they were told new owners would inject £ 100 million to spend on new faces to close the gap and that the appointment of manager Roy Hodgson was just a temporary measure.

New England Sports Ventures' announcement of an austere approach in the transfer market has left the duo feeling like they were misled. Reina has been linked with Manchester United and Arsenal, while Torres could be set for a big money switch to Barcelona, Manchester City or Chelsea.
