India beat England in a penalty shootout as Heartbeat stops PDF Print E-mail

New Delhi: In the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2010, India took over England in a thrilling  semi-final match of Hockey at Major Dhyan Chandra Stadium, New Delhi. India beat the England by 5-4 in penalty to qualify for final.

India Started the match by leading 1-0 in in the 19th minute of first half. but just before lunch England leveled the score by 1-1 with the help of penalty corner. 

After the lunch England dominated in the second half to make lead of 3-1 by scoring in 6th and 10th minute. But from penalty corner India recovered to make 2-3 and then after few minutes Sarvanjeet scored India's 3rd goal in the 29th minute to level the score by 3-3. Last 2 Goals from India came at crucial time when India was losing grip in the match.

India got penalty corner in last 10 seconds of 1st extra time but India could not make it. In 2nd half extra time Gurbaj was injured and left the field. 

In Penalty Shootout India won the match by 5-4.

This match was full of high tension as both teams performed excellent stick work.

Indians have progressed a lot in the event and their thumping victory over Pakistan by 7-4 is the latest to talk. Earlier, they trashed Malaysia by 3-2 in CWG 2010.
 
Now India will take on Australia in Final match at Major Dhyan Chandra Stadium, New Delhi. Now India is just a step away from Gold Medal.
